How do the public radio services NPR, PRI, and PRE actually differ?
National Public Radio (NPR),
based in Washington, D.C, is a radio production and distribution company for programs like Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and Talk of the Nation.  NPR has more that 500 member stations nationwide.

Public Radio International (PRI), based in Minneapolis, MN, distributes public radio programs such as A Prairie Home Companion, This American Life, and BBC World Service to stations worldwide.

Public Radio East (PRE) purchases programs from these companies at a significant cost and broadcasts them throughout the region of Eastern North Carolina.  PRE also produces over 105 hours each week of locally hosted original news and music programming for your listening needs and enjoyment.

What about purchasing transcripts and tapes of NPR programs? Copies of NPR news programs (such as Morning Edition and All Things Considered) are available by calling 877-677-8398. Be sure to note the name of the program and the date and time it aired.  If you have questions about NPR programs, call NPR Listener Services at (202) 513-3232
